Parish Council projects
We’re pleased to say that the projects are progressing well.
We plan to go out for tender for the Village Hall refurbishment in July. The project will deliver internal alterations and a significant upgrade to insulation and heating which will improve usability and comfort while minimizing running costs. All being well work will start on site in late summer or early autumn.
The Village Hall remains open for bookings at least up to the end of July. The play area will remain open throughout.
After various false starts, Redrow has committed to transferring ownership of the site for the North Radley Room (to be known as Radley Rotunda) in Thomas Crouch Drive on 1st July 2024.
The building will be prefabricated off site and transported to site to be assembled between mid-August and October. After landscaping and external works are completed, the building is anticipated to be open in late 2024.
We hope to receive funding for an artist-led project which will provide a portico and canopies to enhance the building. The artist plans to run workshops and to work on site at some times.
Council Tax
After 13 years of no change, the Council has reluctantly increased the Parish Council element of Council Tax on a Band D property by 5p per week to £63.06. This small increase will help the Parish Council to continue providing services like litter collection, allotments and advocating for the parish on such varied issues as planning, potholes, and road safety.
Spring Litter Pick
A HUGE thank you goes out to all the adult and child volunteers who came out for Radley Litter Pick on Sunday 3rd March and collected in total 50 bags of litter and a traffic cone! You may have spotted them around the Parish wearing their high viz jackets.
We also want to thank: Chris our Parish Lengthsman for arranging and co-ordinating the Litter Pick. Radley Primary School for the use of the Old School Building as our base. Radley Village Shop for the donation of food and drinks to allow us to provide refreshments to the volunteers. Radley College for the loan of litter picking equipment for the day. The Vale of White Horse District Council and Biffa for the loan of litter picking equipment and (soon to be) collection of the bags of litter. And the Radley Parish Councillors and Clerk who helped in the lead up to the event, and either took part in the litter pick or served up refreshments and cleared up after the event.
Radley Parish Council Meeting
The next Radley Parish Council meeting will be held on Thursday 25th April at 7.30pm in the Radley Church Room.
