The Parish Council has provisionally allocated £630k of Community Infrastructure Levy payments to upgrading the community facilities at Gooseacre. A public consultation was held in February/March 2021 on what should be done with the facilities and an architect was appointed in September 2021 to develop plans. An exhibition of his plans was held in the village hall in April/May 2022.
A planning application was submitted in October 2022 but not approved by the District Council until September 2023. In November 2024, the architect is working to clear pre-commencement conditions on the application and preparing for the Building Regulations submission. It is hoped that the project will go out to tender by summer 2025.
Delays in the programme are likely to mean that the cost of the works will have risen and the Council may have to raise additional funds to allow the full proposals to be completed.
